May,2008 — Disclose how the Yogi Herbs help yoga practice
During over thousands years practice, the oriental practitioners of Tao or yoga have experimented tremendous ways to achieve wellness and longevity. Their experiences had been recorded and could be applied for our benefit of good health.
In the West nowadays, the word “yoga” is so popular, you could easily book into a yoga studio and explore this ancient art. You could be well equipped with all sorts of yoga books, music, tools and clothes etc. which are mostly far away from ancient yogis. Actually yoga is more of a unity of healthy lifestyle. Looking into the wisdom and life of real yogis could help us master the principles of the art of wellness.
In the East, the original India yoga had spread over the Himalaya into Tibet and Central China one thousand years ago. The ancient teaching was integrated into local culture and well kept even though the original Indian culture was destroyed by foreign invaders. Tibetan yogis integrated Indian yoga into Buddhist practice while Chinese Taoist yogis absorbed the Indian yoga into their longevity approach. In 1973, a silk painting of 2200 years ago was unearthed in China, which showed us the Taoist yoga practice with therapeutic description.
One classic document inserted before the painting introduced the way to apply herbal supplements to enhance the yoga practice, which is the first yogi herbs record found today. The Taoist yogis found specific herbs which work well with different meridians to develop the energy balance during their practice. At different levels of their practice, specific herbs were formulated to improve the circulation or adjust the inner organs performance. For instance, some formula could help relieve the muscle tension and ache during training; other herbs could cultivate the mind for meditation practice. Medical practice approved the function of those yogi herbs which could improve health condition.
Yogi herbs were included in the first Chinese Medical Herbal Pharmacopoeia ie. Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing, those herbs were approved with no toxin and work well to enhance wellness. The Taoist idea of using solar energy, botanical essence and internal energy for wellness was taken into Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as “Three Treasures” theory, i.e. “Jing (Essence), Qi (Vital energy) and Shen (Spirit)”, which is equivalent to the popular words “body, mind& spirit”. Herbal power is a must in Taoist yogi practice simply like today’s gym goers use nutrition and supplements for their training.
In Tibetan yogi training, herbal essence had been taken as a secret power to achieve enlightenment. The famous Yogini Yeshe Tsogyel was taught by Guru Rinpoche when she was too weak to continue her yoga practice, “You are too repressed and too fervent in your practice. You should use essential elixirs of herbs and shrubs to cultivate the play of your intelligence and restore your body to health”.
Look at the Tibetan Thangka of the Medicine Buddha here, you should be able to notice the healing herbs in his right hand. Tibetan Medicine focus a lot on using herbal remedy to assist yoga practice. Even the producing of herbal remedy is taken as a kind of special yoga practice.
During 20 years’ study of Taoist and Tibetan yoga, Dr. Wenrong Chen integrates TCM wellness with the traditional yogi herbs. Intensive research of 2 years Taoist longevity practice in the famous Taoist yogi mountain Mt.Laoshan inspired the found of Dr.Herbs. Taoist yogis in Mt.Laoshan enjoy a long history of unique practice and set up their own school of practice, which highly value the usage of herbs to help wellness and yoga practice.
Later 8 years clinical practice helped to develop more effective formulas to solve modern health concerns. Moonlit, CardioQi, PainAway and ImmunoPlus are especially suitable for those who practice yoga. Body and mind balance could be improved with the past experiences over thousand years practice.
