The 2012 prediction is an old topic now, if not for the promoting of the movie and related TV shows, more discussions have confused my patients, therefore I would like to give a talk here.
Somebody even worry about the future of their kids. I could remember the same thing happened ten years before the year 1999, when a lot words claimed the ending of our world. From the view of medicine, the mind of human being could decide the direction of their health. Twenty years passed since the last confusion. This time, the reappearance seems combine more power of modern science together with the old Mayan myth. Quires with uncertainty fill in the mind of people who are anxious about their future when nothing seems accountable in this era, especially after the slaughter of the economic crisis. A dozen points have been listed to prove the possibility of the disaster coming very soon, though none of them could stand without doubts. I am not going to judge here who is right, but rather open the mind to view this matter.
As we know China is the only ancient culture that still alive in the world with the old lunar calendar still in usage today, not like the ceased Mayan calendar. The historic record of any astrology record and social events had published over 500o years with 25 dynasties. During that long period, the study of prediction of human and nature never end and one of the outstanding document left is the IChing-Book of Change, which is the oldest book and still works for many field, especially a must read text in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Of course, like the people today, ancient emperors also would like to know how long their power could last and eager to preview their future by predictions from astrology or IChing. A couple of works left today to prove how the history was predicted and the hint for our future are there await new proof in future. Many of those books still on shelf in China, but I am not sure if there is any translation introduced to the West. In all those prediction works, the year around 2012 is a window of era, indicating a turning point for the human society, more of the meaning in spiritual and the way to recognize the world. Disaster could be a milestone for busy people to reconsider things, but not an ending, as there will be a rise up after that. It seems more like a bumper for the 360 years section of the human belief and behavior. As in the IChing, 60 years turn one round and 360 years mark a change of era. We could easily check the evens happened during this recent 356 years when the last Qing Dynasty set up in China while Europe saw the revolution of different fields. We never developed such power to abuse resources, break global balance and spoil science. Should we wake up to embrace a bright morning or just blind in the nightmare we created till it scares us to the dead end? There are 64 chapters in IChing, with only one chapter bare no risk, which is humble and modest. Sure there is nothing that not change, but it is our mind that could turn its direction. According to the wisdom of IChing, our globe has an expire date, which is in 5.6 billions year; the modern explained that as the age of our solar system. As there is nothing exist without a reason, we could expect a better result with a better start, and that is in our hands of the present.
